Unexpected Colour
February 29, 2012
How on earth is it suddenly the end of February?! I felt like I was in a bit of a fog for most of the day yesterday, with the after-effects of my head cold still lingering, but my evening contained not one but two surprises. First, my home is featured on HGTV Canada for all to finally see! Janis Nicolay took the lovely photos in early January and I’m so happy with how everything turned out. I’ll share some pics and a few outtakes here on Friday but you can read the full interview here. Yay! And second, I got a phone call from Rachel who I miss so much already! We chatted for a whopping 2.5 hours about her first days in Florida while going over a whole lot of lists that we have on the go for Scout Handmade + Vintage Market. We’ve got to make the most of our phone calls it seems…good thing she’s got a great long distance plan!
I’ve been loving the bright and often unexpected pops of colour that I’ve been seeing in home decor lately, especially with the everlasting winter weather that we’ve been having! The latest edition of Rue Magazine came out yesterday and it’s gorgeous, full of bright inspiration throughout. I especially loved these yellow pendants…what a showstopper for this otherwise neutral kitchen! From rugs and pillows to art and accessories and more, the opportunities to bring affordable bursts of colour into your home are endless…

Small touches like flowers, pillows and dishes, can add big impact especially when grouped together. The beauty of a neutral backdrop is that you can change your colour scheme regularly, without breaking the bank…

Does your colour scheme change seasonally? Do you wish it did? It’s amazing what a $3 bunch of bright tulips can do for a room. Have a colourful Wednesday!
