Timber: Rustic and Modern

Timber: Rustic and Modern

October 4, 2011

I hope you don’t mind that I’m mentioning my love of wood once again.  But after the IDSWest, I have to say that I love it even more now.  The contrast of a slick modern surface and a fallen tree worked until it is as smooth as glass is just simply stunning.  There were a tonne of fabulous examples at the show but if I had to pick, I’d have to say that the modern kitchens with integrated wood counters and islands, especially Aya Kitchens and Baths installation.  It had all the bells and whistles, complete with soft close cabinets, recycling station, drawer bins, Kohler Crevasse Prep Sink, clever storage drawers, green house window, and of course the most beautiful slab of wood formed into the breakfast bar.  You can catch a glimpse of it here in Lily’s post from yesterday.  After browsing through all the booths at IDSWest, I’m guessing that the painted wood trend may be coming to an end very soon and I’m pretty sure this will make many men sigh in relief.  Here are some of my online favourites.  Enjoy!
