The Old Fashioned Screened-in Porch
May 18, 2011
I would love a screened-in porch. A childhood friend of mine had one in her westcoast style home and I think I’ve wanted one ever since…her porch and a westcoast style home. With our warm summer days numbered here in the northwest, a screened-in porch would add a few weeks of enjoyment onto both ends of the season.
1. Better Homes and Gardens 2. House Beautiful
I can imagine how wonderful it will be to enjoy a hot cup of coffee and the morning paper on my someday porch. Or to escape the summer heat while enjoying friends and family after a delicious barbecue. Or to wind down in the evening after a hard day at work.
I think my porch will also have a place to sleep. How lovely would it be to escape the summer heat and sleep outside? My girls would love it. I would love it. It would be my kind of camping with all the comforts of home but without the stress of packing and unpacking.
But if my dreams of a screened-in porch don’t come true, I’d be perfectly happy with these giant swing out doors. Just open them up on a perfect summer day and let the sunshine in.
Oh, summer, I’ve been waiting.
