For the love of laundry…
October 22, 2010
Oh, laundry, laundry, laundry…never ending laundry. I know there are worse things in life and really I’ve always claimed to like doing laundry. And I do. It’s just that there doesn’t seem to be any down time when it comes to this household chore. Before kids, I could get away with doing laundry once a week but not now with two little girls who enjoy rolling around in their sandbox. So I’m trying to find a way to stream line my system. Those of you with two, three, four or more children (God bless), how do you maintain control of your laundry? Any tips?
Maybe if my laundry room was a little bit more organized. With cabinets and shelves for all those bottles and sprays. With a table for folding. And bins for sorting. And a large sink for soaking. Kind of like this…
I know that’s a bit over the top but I can dream. Can’t I? Are these a little more realistic? I love the barn board ceilings and walls all painted a nice crisp white and the farm sink, is definitely on my list. Plenty of open shelves and cupboards and bins. Everything in it’s place and a place for everything. Why not use large vintage jars for laundry soap and Borax? It not only looks pretty but is a visual reminder of when you’re running low. I can’t get enough of how bright all of these rooms are.
And a just few more items on my wish list to pull it all together. Anthropologie had this smart little metal clock on sale when Lily and I did our big thrift day and silly me, I left it at the store. I think it would have done a great job at keeping me on task. We also saw an amazing pair of lockers similar in size to the white ones but blue and orange. If we had brought along a truck, I just might have taken them home with me. And I’m also on the lookout for vintage laundromat carts for sorting laundry and an industrial metal table for folding laundry. But first, all I have to do is empty out my basement and spray it all white! Easy peasy!
