Christmas Morning Breakfast

Christmas Morning Breakfast

December 3, 2010

Since the girls have been in school, the rooster crows a little earlier around our house than we’d like.  And this means that my amazing husband gets up with us and makes us all breakfast.  We are so spoiled, I know.  Anyways, we are out of pancake mix.  So I was searching around for a homemade version and got a little sidetracked thinking about what we’ll have for breakfast on Christmas morning.  I’d prefer something that I can make ahead and pull out after the gift opening frenzy.  I have a couple recipes in mind especially since I’ve made them before.  A special occasion is not a good time to try out a new recipe.  I found both of these recipes on Apartment Therapy‘s The Kitchn and they are so very yummy and easy.

Now if the Big Pancake is too plain and simple for you, the Weekend Apple Pancake is like having apple pie for breakfast.  What I like most about it is that you don’t need any toppings except for maybe a dollop of whipped cream.  Serve it with fresh fruit and maybe some Canadian bacon and call it a good start to the day.

Have you ever taken a browse through Etsy‘s Plant and Edibles section?  There are some amazing finds in there.  I don’t think I would have ever known that marshmallows don’t always come from a bag if it weren’t for Etsy.  Here is a selection of everything that caught my eye today…I must be hungry.

1. Lemon Bird 2. Izzy and Luca 3. eBook 4. Kitchen Stories
