Holiday Gift Guide…part II

Holiday Gift Guide…part II

November 19, 2010

Well, we have had our first snowfall of the season. My daughters were thrilled. With what little snow had fallen, they managed to sweep up enough to make a few wee snowmen this afternoon with their Grandma. There are rumours of a very wicked winter, the worst we’ve had in 50 years. I haven’t heard it from anyone “official” yet so I’ll have to see it to believe it.  A couple years ago, I started the ritual of picking out one or two appetizers for gatherings. I can then stock up on ingredients and I have one less thing to think about.  I can’t believe that starting this Saturday, we have Christmas events booked every weekend until the New Year! And I haven’t picked out my recipes yet!  What are your favourite appetizers?

While searching for homemade hostess gift ideas I went straight to Martha because you know she’ll have the answer.  And of course, she came through.  Here are just a few ideas that you might consider.  For those who enjoy a nice hot cup of tea, I loved this custom blended tea sampler.  Or how about homemade drink mixes?  I think I might have to try out the recipe for this Caramel-Vanilla Bourbon sauce. Doesn’t that sound so good?  And for those with a green thumb or not, these lovely Jade plants are easy to care for and should outlive a bouquet of cut flowers.  She also had another idea that I loved.  A breakfast basket for the hostess who’s planned everything but a healthy breakfast for the next morning.

The shops at Etsy are filled to the brim right now with all sorts of goodies.  We are all anticipating the Christmas rush.  Here’s my latest collection for those looking for hostess gift ideas.

Please stop by these lovely shops and have a look around.  I’m certain you’ll find a gift for that special friend.
