Phewf! What a weekend! Rachel and I got home late last night after a a fun and successful weekend of shopping with 2 other girlfriends. I had a feeling we’d come home with a pretty good haul but I never imagined how full Rachel’s truck would actually be…it took some pretty creative packing to find a place for everything! Despite navigating through Seattle’s maze of streets with a big truck and a hopelessly vague hotel map, we managed to find a number of thrift stores to hunt through and got in some “real” shopping at the outlet stores on our way back to the border. I lost my voice on Saturday morning, and it’s still missing out there somewhere, but even without the ability to speak it was such a refreshing time away with the girls…no kids, no chores and sleeping in the most comfortable hotel beds ever!

Our weekend weather was pretty wet and blustery and rain is in the forecast for the week as well. Here on the West Coast, it’s important to maximize every possible drop of natural light in order to keep the winter blues at bay. Well placed windows and doors are key. The use of white walls and lighter floors and furnishings helps the natural light travel through each of the following spaces…

On a heavier note, my heart is so sad for the people of Japan and the massive tragedy that they’re living through. One of our friends and her 3 children arrived in Japan only 3 hours before the earthquake hit and we were so relieved to hear word that they were all safe and sound. Her husband was in India for a wedding (and is still there) and I can only imagine his terror while trying to get information in a 3rd world country about his family. Brad and I are praying for their safe journeys back to each other and for all of the millions of people struggling with shock and grief right now. It’s so unbelievable how everything can change in an instant…

I love all that juicy natural light! Gorgeous!

I wanna see pics of your thrift finds! What did you get?

So sad about Japan. I am glad to hear that your friend and her kidlets are safe – whew! How scary. The people of Japan are definitely in my prayers. The whole world is thinking of them and sending prayers their way, it seems.

Thanks Dionne! We’ll be sure to take pics of our treasure hunting finds…it was late and dark last night when we were emptying out the fullest truck ever! Yes, we are so relieved about our friend Yumi and her little ones :)
