Well, how was your weekend?  Our’s was fairly productive.  The calendar was completely empty for Saturday and Sunday so we spent time puttering around the house to catch up on mundane chores, like trips to the dump and organizing closets.  I got out to celebrate Lily’s birthday at a local restaurant and we also managed to squeeze in a family swim at the pool with a little relaxing in between.  I could use a few more weekends like this to check more tasks off my to-do list, like shop for a new sofa.  I have this vision of what I’d like it to look like but I have yet to come across an affordable version in stores.  So, I’ll keep looking.

I love magazines.  I have subscriptions to a few of my favourite shelter magazines and I always look forward to seeing them in my mailbox.  I love to scan the pages for inspiration. But every now and then I find myself resentful with a magazine’s definition of budget friendly design.  The other day I came across a “high” and “low” comparison for sofas and of course, I fell in love with the “low” version.  When I looked a little closer at the price tag, it wasn’t as low as I needed it to be.  I’m sorry but $3000. for a sofa is hardly affordable.  Right?

I haven’t stopped in at Ikea yet and our friend, Jayme, told me about a local furniture outlet store so I’m holding out for just the right sofa.  Speaking of Ikea…have you noticed how often items from Ikea are incorporated into design?  Their pieces blend in so nicely with vintage finds.  There are a few signature Ikea go-tos that I’ve noticed, like the floating shelves and a few of their dressers.  I was pleasantly surprised to come across the Ikea blog with plenty of beautifully curated spaces.  The best part?  It’s in my budget!  What do you think?

Ooooh I just love those pictures you posted. If you haven’t already, go over to Rosa’s “Flutter, Flutter” she mentioned that Ikea just replaced her ikea chairs because they had a warranty of 10 years …… her’s were only 6 years and they started ripping. We got our couches at a place down in the states. We got them delivered and are soooo happy with them. For $1200.00 We got two slip covered loveseats. Google Sofa Outlet and check it out. They are based down in California but I cannot tell you enough about how pleased we are. Good Luck!

Who knew Ikea had such a great warranty? Did you have them delivered to your home or did you pack them across the border yourself? Thanks so much for the tip. :)

I love these pictures! And you are right, $3000 is not an affordable sofa! Great site.

Can’t wait for a new IKEA Denver in the fall – I won’t know what to do with myself with all that fun so close by. And yes, I love the incorporation of old and new that just looks so natural.
