Cottage Country

As you’re reading this, we’re likely en route to our temporary beach home on the Oregon Coast. We originally started planning this trip with camping in mind but, with 11 kids under the ages of 10 between 4 couples, a beach home soon seemed like a much better plan! It will still be a little crazy but much more manageable with bedrooms and showers for all! While growing up, my family camped every summer just outside of Cannon Beach and we’ve got so many fantastic memories of our visits there. Now that our kids are out of the baby stages, we’re sure to fit a coastal camping trip into our future holiday plans but, for this year, I’m beyond thrilled with our beach rental set-up!

What do summer getaways look like for your family? Rustic camping? Hotels? Stay-cations? Whatever the location, all that matters is the time spent with family and, in our case, a pile of great friends! Also, I just want to send out a big shout to my sister, Becky, on her 30th birthday…HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best sister I could have ever asked for! Isn’t she stunning? What a woman! xoxo

I grew up camping and as far as us as a family we started back packing when there were no kids, introduced backpacking when my daughter was 10 months old, and since then both of our kids have been doing over night back packing trips since they were 2 years old. We also throw in the odd car camping trip as well. The kids just adore being outside!
